Juan Carlos was born in Barcelona, Spain and became involved in the world of music and the sounds of flamenco at the age of 11. When he was 15, he had traveled and performed throughout Europe and North Africa. In 1960 he arrived in America and performed in every major university throughout the United States and Canada. |

|
Through his travels Juan Carlos learned many of the songs and popular music heard in Latin America and the Caribbean. In the 1970’s he created a new act and following the advice of choreographer, Bob Fosse, he incorporated a group of dancers to his show and named it “Juan Carlos and His Flamenco Rumba”. |
